What way do you tie all your fans together?

For example, I have 8 GT ap15's on a radiator. Would you use a bunch of splitters to chain them together or would you use a power hub

I am asking because I need some ideas. I also have 4 140mm fans as well as a fan controller 30w per channel. Lamptron FC5
I want to keep a spaghetti mess of wires to a minimum.
Input and ideas appreciated.

I build my own splitter when i need to, with minimum wire lenght to reduce "rat nest" size.

This pre made splitter will work just fine too.

I wired 3 fans in parallel. I can post pics at home if you like. 3 fans with one connector so easy to deal with and little wiring. My fan controller is 30 watts per channel. AP-15's. One knob for 3 fans.

I have a sunbeam rheobus extreme with a 1X3pin to 2X3pin custom splitter then I hook them individually to those, OR I solder 2 fans to one 3pin connector but that is not as nice looking imo

The GT AP 15 draw .083 amp according to sidewinders, anyone know the startup draw and what 8 fans would be in watts?
I am mobile right now and won't be home til late and was wanting to know if I could run 8 fans off a 30 w per channel controller on one channel.
Thanks in advance.

Wanting to know if I should waste money on this or make my own.

The only thing I don't like about that power hub is that the fans will always be running at 100% (unless you modified the input power connector).

Here is a calculator.
http://www.supercircuits.com/resources/tools/volts-watts-amps-converter

0.996 x 8 = 7.968 watts.

Those fans pull about 2.3 times the nominal running current when they start up. You can find the specs at the NIDEC web page, I did a few years ago, don't have a link for it.

My AP-15s run at 900-1000 RPM, so my startup current is probably 2/3 of the rated startup current. So you should be fine.

Make your own. Do it like the pic I posted. One wire, very simple unless you have 10 thumbs and soldering is hard. Each rad will have 4 fans and one wire coming off of it.

EDIT: Easy to find:

Thanks Conum. Easier said than done while on the road. But many thanks again.

What gauge wire would you use? 16 awg too much?
