which of these is the better ram for ocing?

Are you looking for 2x1GB or 2x512MB? I would get the OCZ Platinum Rev.2 for 2x512 and the G.Skill HZ for 2x1GB.

I would get the 2x512Mb Ballistix and the pc4000 Gskill's. The 2x1Gb would be better but they won't perform like the Ballistix.

those are the ones im getting... heck i cant stand when in battlefield2 my hd has to page and i get a .5s stutter enough to be sniped... and note that i have REAL GOOD memory and HD... 2X1GB is looking more and more as a must for new puters...

The ones that PhobMX suggested are very very good. I would get the ones that he suggested. 2x1 is getting cheaper so might as well.

Remember dividers don't affect performance
I'd go with the G.Skills with the black heatspreaders,they're the ones that oc the best.

The latter ones are the better ones. Even if they dont go past 275 (like some other people's sticks) You can always run on a divider and shouldnt affect performance or it will affect it very very little.

As people are saying, you should really only consider 2x1024 solutions. 2x512 is proving to require pagefile usage in many of the new games.

Yes, 2x1GB is something to consider for playing BF2 or games that require lots of memory. Once you hit the paging file, you will lag like theres no tomorrow.

Phob - just fyi the G.Skill extreme 2x1024 have been performing poor lately (there must have been a bad batch or something). People are having a hard time running them past 250mhz. The Mushkin and OCZ UCCC modules are down in price now and should def be considered if you are looking for serious OCers.

Just dont go for the Mushkin Redlines. They use Infineon CE-6 chips AFAIK. These: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820146397 are the ones to get.
No don't get those muskins. The infineon chips won't oc at all. The ones to get right now are: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227219 . I just ordered a pair tonight. Especially if you have a DFI NF4 board people are getting these things to 270 and above. Plus you simply cannot beat OCZ support.

thanks fighter. looks like im in for one set of the ocz as well.. i was gunna get the gskill but i need atleast 265 or i will be discouraged. i owe it to ocz anyways. they are awesome
