Fast spinning fans tend to whine a lot, and air turbulence adds on to the noise. Slow RPM fans like the Panaflo L1As and Nexus are very silent.

No idea, maybe they don't want to go through all the trouble of punching a larger grill?? Antec seems to love the 120mm sizes when it comes to their mid towers (Super Lanboy, Sonata).

Yep, I stay away from Vantec stuff. The noise the Aeroflow made was irritating.
