I've read that Win 10 has a built in .PDF reader, but that doesn't seem to be the case with my install.<sigh> I despise the free .PDF readers out there, full of crapware and begging for money. <sigh>

Any help / advise would be welcome. ;)

Adobe reader DC works fine and is free.

Chrome can read PDFs

I think CutePDF is free

The default PDF reader in Windows 10 is Edge. Firefox and Chrome can also display PDF files.

Adobe reader is still free! "View, sign, comment on, and share PDFs for free."

I use FireFox.
