Is it true i have to buy 180$ w7 64 bit so i can use different drives in my pc? I was reading on newegg that someone bought the full retail version for 100$ and when his hdd crapped out it wouldnt let him load the same OS because it didnt recognize the new hdd? Is there a way around it? i dont wanna spend that much on an OS even if its 100$

You can just re-activate it or end up calling MS via an automated response system if it doesnt activate.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet - Adolph Hitler - 1934
A retail version should reinstall with no problem.
I forget but I think you can reinstall up to 5 times before you need to contact Microshaft for reactivation help.

It depends on the hardware change. I installed once, changed a motherboard, and needed to contact MS...
