Windows causing slow startup/shutdown

Did you try switching to IDE mode? Some times ACHI just doesn't work with some drives.

Maybe I'll try that again, I pretty sure I gave it a shot at some point earlier. One thing, I find in the bios where it looks like you can change between ACHI and IDE universally, but is there a way to change only the HDD (in windows somewhere?)?
