Windows XP issue

hey, got a friends computer here who deleted something, not sure what but now when ever you try to run an exe it will say "unable to load "program.lnk": Invalid torrent file".

Couple of things first these arnt torrents they applications. and second all the files now have a .lnk file extension.

Anyone seen this before?

also just noticed if I try to open "my computer" or any of the file structure it asks you what program you want to open it with...
