wireless connection question

okay, i've never done wireless before, so i've got a quick question: if i just want to connect two computers with wireless cards, do i need a base station or router, or can they communicate directly? they're going to be in the same room, about 40 feet apart, or so. thanks!

They can communicate directly, but you must set them both to the same SSID, and set them to "Ad-hoc" mode.. should be in the card's configuration.

You will also have to set static IPs on them both
