Alright guys I got another big money question for everyone,
on the older x58 boards they got three CPU's that I love but have questions about,
the Intel x5690, the W3690, and the Intel i7 990x core all these cores support tri-channel memory.

But my question is would they work with just dual channel motherboards?
I got an old Sabertooth X58 from Asus and I was thinking of setting up a home server with it, but
its not in a good condition as a whole so, was thinking maybe moving onto the spare dual channel boards I have
from that generation and chipset.

Would the HEXA cores still work on those boards? Minus a notable performance loss.

I remember Mr.Scott mentioning along the lines that Asus boards can run a lot of things.
My p6t d v1 is triple channelboard, but everything works with 2 channels fine, not sure if it's relevant thiugh..(shes an Asus with x5670)

I don't think they made dual channel specific motherboards for x58.. did they? Triple channel was by design, but still had native support for single and dual..? I know dual works fine, you just lose some memory performance.. about a third I guess but don't quote me on that :D

I don't have 9xx cpu so I cant say if you can make it back or not with dividers.

You could run them with just a single stick, but they were made to take advantage of and up performance with 3 or 6 sticks.
