I've done it actually

Take the clips out of the 775 socket bracket, run some M4 bolts through the holes, and put nuts on the back of the board

He's also trying to convince me to buy his old Kraken instead. So...since it seems that this cooler combination with the processor would work well, the new question becomes do I go Water or do I go Air?
 
Well, the question is up to you.
The S1283 will do a nice job, it's a solid cooler. And you'll spend about $5 in nuts/bolts/washers at Lowe's.
The Kraken will do better, but you'll spend a decent bit more than $5 :p
