Hi guys....

I have an asrock z68 ext4 gen3 mobo, an i7-2600k in the mail for it... read some things in research in looking the right cooler to get reliable 4.5+ ghz o/c from this chip ...... Mainly that motherboards of that age need the fan cooling for not just the chip, but the mobo too.... Is this right?..... I was going to buy the Kraken X62, but am I better off getting the Noctua NH-D15 cause a mobo that old needs fan cooling...Does it even matter cause both will be awesome?....Price diff is $250 for wc/ $100 for fc..... Any advice very much appreciated...

A simple hyper 212 evo will keep a 2600k at 4.5ghz...

I dont recall that board or platform needed direct cooling.

Nope, no need of cooling for the Mobo.

It is a good one BTW. ANd not that old, should be 2012 IIRC and second chipset for SB (after P67).

Don't bother watercooling, as E_D says, a 212 will take the CPU to 4.5/4.6GHzGHz at least (in the 1.35'ish vcore).

A NH-D14/15 will take it to 4.8GHz/4.9GHZ (1.45v), depending on the silicon quality.

Thank you very much for taking the time guys... The noctua option sounds like the way to go...
