"AMD PAID BOSS Hector Ruiz some $7.4 million in 2007 - a 54.3 per cent cut from 2006, according to a proxy statement filed Friday with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
Ruiz trousered a $1.1 million salary for the year and made up the rest in stock options worth about $6.2 million, AP's bloke on the abacus reckons.
Not unsurpisingly Ruiz received no performance-based bonus for his year's endeavours. Luckily for him, there seems to have been no penalty for going backwards.
Ruiz gets a few other perks which amount to about $75,000 or a couple of times a more ordinary mortal's salary.
Ruiz was earning more than twice as much in 2006 - the year he bought ATI.
With its cher price at $6.83 today, AMD has a market cap of $3.86 billion - much less than the $5.6 billion it paid to acquire the graphics chip specialist.
AMD lost $3.38 billion on revenue of $6.01 billion in 2007."
Still earned more than he should of got
