Is it the case that CPUIdle type programmes are not required from Win98SE onward since the OS now actually performs this function of decreasing voltage to the chip when idle?

I am running WinME !

Far as I know, only Win2K and possibly NT 4.0 have the HLT commands already present. WinMe, in my opinion, is 98SE with a system restore and a few well known MSCONFIG tweaks already configured...not to mention the Win2K interface.

If you are interested in running one of these programs then go ahead. I don't see any point in running anything just to cool my processor...especially when it's idling. Supposed to be cool then anyways.
