As frequent readers may recall, I have been trying to extend my success from a reliable 968 @ 129 fsb, to the slightly better 1000 @ 133 fsb since that yields a pci bus that is perfectly on spec for peripherals other than the agp. I previously projected that it might be my memory, which is older memory that I got with my previous processor, a Step p2 333 oc'd to 500.

While some thought that possible, most wrote it up to the limitations of the cBO in general and the p3 750 in particular.

I write this for those hardheads out there who persist at trying to make things work.

I am now coming to you on a 1 gig processor. The only change that I made was a change in the sdram latency setting from "auto" in bios, to "2." The computer has booted everytime with these settings although I did bump the voltage up to 1.85 when the computer locked up in "Black & White" at a lower voltage.

While this may not be stable as set up, I may have established that memory is a factor. (It was no boot at 1035, by the way!)

Does this sound like a memory thing that better memory might stabilize?

to test if it is a memory problem, change the setting (you had at auto and changed to 2) to 3. This is slow down your memory, and see if it really is a factor. If not, get a better cooling setup. I am basically done with my setup. My friends dad is hooking me up with a water cooling system for my 80watt Peltier, which will go on a Celeron II 600 cC0(i superglued mine to a slotkey , LoL don't ask how). Right now, i am working on a car stereo for my car. I am 15 so i still got a little time. I will be getting a 2001 Toyota Celica, fully loaded, moon roof everything. 3 1000 watt kicker boxes (2 10inch woofers in each box 1000 watts peak each) and a 5000 watt amp. And by the way to make my car technological, i am getting a mp3 player instead of a radio.

Well, ... actually, I am already on water.

I also tried setting latency at 3 and it did not get past the desktop. But 2 it liked, and ran reasonably well afterwards, though not fully stable.

I don't claim to know why it chose to work this way, ... but these are memory issues that I am changing around, so I tend to think it a factor.
