How to set static LAN IP in 2000pro?

Easiest way is to right-click the Network icon on the desktop and pick your connection then go to properties, TCP/IP Properties.

enter your static ip address, subnet, gateway etc and say ok.

Done.

At the command line ipconfig is the command used, and there are switches as well but I don't bother with them much: gui is supposed to get rid of command line as much as possible IMO.

Ah thats why my GF's comp doesn't like the network.....I never thought of that. Now is it wise then to upgrade hers to win2000pro or would it be like opening a can of worms. I couldn't do a clean install because she has too much crap on there and would kill me if anything got erased.
