Hey guys,

Wanted to share this with you all as it could be a nice PPD boost during the CC for those running similar systems.

Just finished setting up a Q9550 @ 3.9GHz, and I wanted to see what V7 on Windows would do before switching it to Linux... Seems like I'll be sticking with this setup!!!

Code:

 Avg. Time / Frame : 00:02:30 - 23,823.9 PPD

 R3F. Time / Frame : 00:02:21 - 24,733.4 PPD
 All Time / Frame : 00:02:20 - 24,974.4 PPD

I've never seen such huge PPD come out of an old Quad. :attn: Hopefully it'll keep picking these P7016 WUs up during the race!

Client is V7 running on Windows 7, default settings in FAHControl. I can only imagine what a 2600K would put out on these!

I'm now racing (no pun intended) to piece together my last scraps of hardware. A Q6600 that will hopefully pick these WUs up also. Will report back with PPD on the Q6600 if it does.

Here's a comparison of another Quad @ 3.7GHz, running 6.34 native Linux:

Well, I'm happy to report that I got my Q6600 rig pieced together. Currently producing ~24,000PPD on a P7027 @3.6GHz. Very happy with these results, I was only expecting 10-15,000PPD with these CPUs.

Also threw in my old C2D laptop for the hell of it. It's only good for 1500PPD or so, but every little bit helps I suppose.

That's all I've got. Didn't think I'd manage to get it all set up in time (and really I'm a little late) since I decided to join the CC so late in the game. I won't get caught with my pants down next year.

Last thing on the to-do list is to switch over another Q6600 running Linux over to Windows tomorrow to pick up these sweet WUs. Should be painless as it's a dual boot.

Don't you want to know why I don't play the lottery too often?

Glad you asked!

I re-installed V7 on my Win7 folder using the defaults as you did. Right away, luck of luck, I got an 8013 project wu, and my ppd on this rig were cut by 40%. Rig is an i7 @ 940 @ 3.5GHz.

Most days, if it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all! :p

My luck was like Adak's, very few good WUs, lots of low producing a4 WUs. I now have one Q6600 v7 rig going and it's doing exclusively a4 WUs and getting less ppd on average than it would running v6.34. Ahh, but all my recesnt results were in Linux VMs. I'll see what happens if I crank up a Windows v7 rig.
Fever, what client-type and max-packet-size were you running when you got the p7016 and are you still getting them? If you're one and done, I'm not changing.

I should probably add a disclaimer that nothing is guaranteed. See my reply to Chasr for a tip on getting them..

Just checked both machines and they're still running 70XX WUs.

Both machines are set up as follows:

V7 latest release in Windows 7
client-type=normal
max-packet-size=normal

I've not changed anything at all, just installed and off it went. I installed V7 on an old laptop yesterday, and it also picked up the same series WU. It's making 2000PPD right now, compared to the 900-1000PPD it used to running 8XXX series WUs until I quit folding on it.

I've just switched over another C2Q rig to test. It was running V7 Win client-type = beta max-packet-size=big. It was only getting 8XXX WUs, which were good for about 12000PPD. In about 5 minutes I'll see what it picks up with Normal & Normal instead, and report back.

If everyone tried this out and it doesn't work I'm certainly going to feel bad, especially considering the race.

Well, that did it. Q9650 just switched over to a P7014 WU by changing both settings to normal. Will edit in the PPD in a few minutes.

Edit:

Here's some stats, Q9650 @4.1GHz: (Note that this rig has a GTX 460 folding in it, also producing 16500PPD by it's self. CPU PPD would be higher without the GPU running)

ChasR/Adak, try running V7 in Windows (not sure if these WUs are available in Linux or not) with default client configurations. I've got one last Q6600 to switch over to Windows from Linux once it finishes it's current WU in 3 hours or so.

That last Quad of mine will be finishing it's WU in an hour. I'm going to see if I can pick up the same series of WUs on Linux v7 before switching over to Windows.

Update:

Q9550 has just picked up another new to me WU, which is a different series but seems to be just as good:

All of these wonder WUs are core A4, BTW.

only getting 8013s on my q6600 but its a work pc so not able to test it on linux regardless.

Are you running the latest V7 client? client-type normal and max-packet-size normal?

If so, try uninstalling and reinstalling the program when your current WU finishes. Leave everything at default settings. Has not failed me yet.

pretty sure i just hit next next next when i installed im not even sure where id check.

I'm not sure why you aren't getting them in that case.

Here's my last rig switched over. I didn't try Linux as I had no time to and Windows was already set up.

not sure how your doing that heh but i wouldnt change it. my wu is worth 598.72 credits vs your 4164.68

Did you guys try a fresh client installation?

1) Hit finish button, wait for WU to complete and upload
2) Hit quit when WU is done
3) Uninstall client, hit check mark to delete data also
4) Reinstall latest V7 client
5) Cross fingers

I've been getting nothing but a steady stream of these WUs across all four C2Qs. I can't be the only one who has access to them.:confused::shrug:
