thats my comp specs from DxDiag.. now what should i over clock and what to? also is there a program i can do that from XP? cause my bios is stupid and i dunno how to get into it (ive tried f1 f5 f6 f8 f9 f10 f12 and del wont try others cause its too late) and i hear that graphics cards are easier to overclock if you use a program from xp (Nvidia cards anyways)

yes i wanted the nvidia but my dad bought it and gave it to me so beggars cant be choosers.. i COULDA gotten the 6800 GT but we picked up the wrong model.. so plz no falming me on that..

so i really want a 2.5 GHz and a little faster ram.. thats bout it tho..

BTW its the new Sony Vaio Media Centre.. its a great comp =)

whats powerstrip?

i am actually sure i can OC the CPU as i have a heat pipe on the thing and thecooling systems awesome (how do i find my temp?) i barley hear it when playing EQ2..

what bout the ram?

btw where can i get this powerstrip?

:bang head :argue:

EDIT: found what Powerstrip was form yahoo...

http://entechtaiwan.net/util/ps.shtm

what settings should i use with my overclocking for the graphics card? is all that i do is change my pixel clock? how much more should i go?

also i wanted to try and get my processor to like 3.5 GHz but i understand that RAM dosnt like a faster processor sometimes.. but if i overclock my ram oo it should work right?

sorry to be such a hardware n00b.. im more of a software person.. i used to do Flash MX actionscripting and now learning C++ so as you can see i never get time for hardware (atleast for now!)

The problem is not with the CPU, but rather, the motherboard. Most brand name systems (dell, gateway, hp, compaq, sony) use motherboards that don't let you mess with FSB settings.

Sony VAIO's are really fast, quiet, and stable machines (probably the best name brand system you can buy). But you probably won't be able to overclock it through conventional means. If you can identify the motherboard, you might be able to use some software overclocking programs to acheive an overclock- but this is usually hit or miss. In my experience, I have never been able to find a software overclock program that works for the particular proprietary motherboard that I wanted to overclock.

I tried checking sony's site for some specs on your motherboard but they only provided me with a little bit of info on the system, and nothing on the motherboard other than the chipset (http://www.sonystyle.com/intershoproot/eCS/Store/en/lc/vaio/pdfs/VGC-RA820G.pdf).
