hi, im gonna build a new gaming computer and heres the parts, anything i should change?

HDD:
Western Digital Raptor SATA/150 74GB 10000RPM
http://www.tekheads.co.uk/s/product?product=602472 £118.65

Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 Plus 200GB ST3200822AS SATA 8MB Cache - OEM (HD-016-SE)
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Seagate2.html £78.67

Motherboard:
DFI LanParty 875P-T (LGA775) Motherboard (MB-012-DF)
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/DFI_Socket_LGA775.html £110.39

Graphics card:
BFG GeForce 6800 GT OC 256MB AGP
http://www.pcwcomponentcentre.co.uk/invt/bfgr68256gtocuk

PSU:
OCZ PowerStream 520w ATX2.2 Power Supply (CA-011-OC)
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/OCZ.html

CPU:
Intel Pentium 4 640 "LGA775 Prescott" 3.2GHz (800FSB) with HT Technology - Retail (CP-093-IN) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Intel_Pentium_4_LGA775.html

Im getting that cpu cos its 64-bit, but is it worth it?

RAM:
OCZ Gold EL Dual Channel Kit 2x512MB DDR466 PC3700 CL 2.5-3-3-8 Revision 3 (LIFETIME WARRANTY) (OCZ4661024ELDCGER3-K)
http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/prod...2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=66694

The RAM is pc3700 but it will fit in the mobo and when i overclock the mobo it will run at ddr466 speed, will it work? is it worth it?

Thanks

there too unstable. i want to go with intel
Even if it might be wrong.
For example i have a couple of clients that will only run an Intel solution even if i can and have shown them my AMD solutions are faster or better. :-/

Besides the blue man group is sooooo Kool :D

And the Ding Ding DIng tone of INTEL.

Advertising is everything :attn:

I'm just curious, how do you mean? Where did you get this information? (a link or two would be nice)

someone told me, he had many amd systems before and they were all unstable, so he swittched to intel. Anyway i wanna go with Intel, dont wanna change that.

Isnt the RAM i have chosen good?

Ah, the power of anecdotal evidence.

The RAM should be fine, I'm not sure on the current state of RAM. The last time I bought any OCZ had a terrible reputation, but appearently that's changed in the last 3 years or so.

edit:
Intel chipsets have a reputation of being more stable than the chipsets used for AMD CPUs, but with the current hardware, you should be able to get a very stable system from either. Multiple unstable AMD systems does point a little at either overclocking too far or some other sort of user error (no offence intended).

edit again: I'm not saying you should go with AMD or anything. I think I was trying to make a point, but I've forgotten what it was.

Yes the OCZ is good but make sure you look at the GSkill above. It will go faster ,lower latency's at 3200 speed(400mhz) and is also LESS MONEY.

The CPUs arent the cause, its the chipsets that made me discourage him from getting one. From my own personal experience the A64 AGP boards are pure crap. The nforce4 offering are just fine but since he is an Intel guy I dont think he would like the loss of stability. Plus he gave me the impression that he wanted an AGP only platform.

Something is screwy about Winchester's memory controller and it takes its toll on the viability of the A64 platform. Im not the only guy who feels this way. There are a number of AMD guys who are flat out ****ed at how unstable the A64s can be

As I reccomended earlier I would go for the AS8. It is esentially identical to the DFi. You wont see a difference between the 2 except for the price

I had a set of TCCD on my Intel and it really didnt like it *at all*. I reccomended the PC3700 because it is Hynix DT-D50. I am using it and it is loads more stable than my TCCD could dream of being

Like I said, I'm not advocating him going with AMD, just more of a curiosity thing. As for 64-bit extensions being wotrth it, I would say definately if you use something like gentoo as your operating system, where you can quickly take advantage of the extra registers by recompiling everything. Otherwise, it's more of a future-proofing sort of thing.

OCZ 3700 Plt is TCCD. Its fine stuff too. I have run mine at 280 on my AI7 (865 chipset) I have also run their 3200 Plt rev 2 at similar speeds. Only down side with the 3700 was it would not run 2-2-2-5 at 200.

As far as MBs go, Id stay away from the AG8, it has some weird issues with the PCI lock, where it does not want to work. If you are looking for a LGA MB with a lock, you either need to jump both feet in and get a MB with a 925 chipset, or stick with something older like a AS8 (865 chipset) or the DFI 875-T (875 chipset) You need to decide if you want to run DDR-2 and PCI-e or stick with DDR and AGP.

I like what you have picked out, personally Id look into some of the OCZ VX Value stuff, with enough voltage you should be able to run 2-2-2-5 at what ever FSB you hit with the 640. Im not sure what the DFI put out for Vdimm, but you are going to want atleast 3.5v, 3.6 to 3.8v would be better.

Not only that, but the chips come with 2mb of cache and tend to clock better than the 5 series. Im not too intreasted in the EMT-64, but the other two features would be the selling point for me.

will the ram definatly work?

The OCZ platinum? Yeah, Im running two sets right now. Im actually running the 3200el Plt rev 2 as we speak in my AI7. 260 2.5-3-3-7 @ 2.8v

My 3700 is a little faster, but I have yet to see what this 3200 can do. I just got it yesterday.
