OS reinstall when going from 2 -> 4 cores?

I'm upgrading a couple of boxes and going from a C2D to a C2Q in one of them.
Do I need to reinstall XP to do this?
I know you had to if going from a single to multi-core, but not sure in this particular case. And for the hell of it, does it matter if you are going from 4->2 cores?

No, you don't have to do anything to Windows.
I've swapped from dual to quad- and back again- multiple times on the same OS install (dual boot XP Pro x64/Vista Ultimate x64) with no problems.

even single to multi core changes don't require a reinstall. isn't plug and play great!

You may get to reactivate. The time I've wasted with M$ to reactivate due to relatively small hardware changes is unbelievable. Bod forbid they should lose a nickel. I hate M$, maybe that's why I'm starting to use Linux.
