current rig

amd 6870
ocz 880w psu
8 gigs ddr3 ripjaw
phenome II quad core BE
500g seagate harddrive 7200rpms
cooler master hyper 212 evo
am3+ Gygabyte mobo
asus dvd burner/player

Your 6870 should be able to run three displays. Running extra displays off the main graphics card shouldn't really change single-monitor gaming performance at all.

If you do use the extra card to run the other displays, that's perfectly fine as well.
