Ok I'm going to install windows Xp home again in my machine for now. ( I'll upgrade the os to 64 bit very soon )

Anyways I forgot how to format a hardrive and I've never used an A drive in my life, So how do I install Xp on a new hdd?

Yeah yeah I feel like a noob.

boot from the xp cd
during the install process it will ask you which partition you would like to install to
after that, should be the screen asking if you want to format it
you can do the (quick) option for a speedier install
the full format can take awhile depending on the size of the drive

Ok cool, Now on tot he second question.

Ok I'm going to set my hardrive I'm on now that I'm using right now as the slave. Will this ruin any of my programs? or can I just reinstall the programs?

because I don't want to lose any of my hard work and what not, Plus the this hard drive will become a storage drive.

By the way the new drive is a 250 gb drive.
