System:
X6800 L628A937
Quent's Asus P5B-Deluxe (Vdroop by Quent; Vcore, Vdimm & Vmch mods by Before)
STT Before's Xtrem 2*512Mb
Windows 2k3 Server (tweaked by Before)
Western Digital IDE 80Gb
2-Stager Unit @ -100C

Vcore = ~1.86V (1.84 to 1.90V)
Vddr = 2.74V
Vmch = 1.87V

I've performed some benchies with my bro Quent this week end. The first processor we managed to test was a X6800.

We first tried with a Biostar TForce P965 Deluxe but the X6800 wasn't well supported by the board and it was impossible to clock over 4.7GHz. Then, we used a fully volt-modded Asus P5B-Deluxe and after flashing the original bios for the 804 version, the chip booted into windows @5.0GHz with 1.84V (also tried later with 1.74V and it succeeded :eek: ).

We made several Super Pi runs within 5000MHz to 5062MHz, with 2 cores enable and 1 core disable as well.

Dispite a great booting ability, the chip failed to pass 5062MHz whatever the Vcore we used (from 1.74V to 1.90V).

So close to 9.XXXs... :(

Then, we made several Spi1M with 2:3 ratio up to the max for the RAM.

hot diggity! It looks like you only have 1GB of RAM..? Try 2GB, it might put you over the edge :)

I'll have very few days more to try breaking this F*** 10s barrier... Quent was very kind, and let me the CPU after our benching session.

Here's today stuff:

Improved Spi1M time with a lower operating CPU frequency. I wasn't able to reach 5050MHz anymore today :( BTW I hardly think 5050MHz is enough to get 9.999s.

Then I've done few but not bad Super Pi 2M, 4M and 8M @5006MHz.

2M = 25.000s just time!

4M = 57.688s

8M = 2m 9.375s

Thx guys for all your kind comments... :beer:

Thank you jordon :)

So, I've tried a little bit this morning with a fresh mounting but the chip didn't allow me to reach 5050MHz benchable again... that suxx! Nevermind, 9.XXXs will be for a next time.

Also, I've recieved 3 E6400 L629A953, 2 E6400 L626A966 and 5 E6000 L627B156 to test for a French reseller and thus I'll not have enough time to continue benching this X6800.

:)

Nice figures !!!

I wish i had the time to do all those mods for my x6800.

Pretty happy with it now running 3.8Ghz on air. Stable
with SETI 24/7.

But you never know... watercooling is fun...

I bet you could see some improvements from OS tweaks and whatnot. That last tiny bit is probably always the hardest. I have a feeling some of the other SPi guys run Win2K instead of XP, or a totally stripped down minimal install of XP. I'd check in to that :)

!! Nice job Before!!
So, since you have no more time benching that x6800, why not give it to me?? :p
If you cant, why not one of those E6400? you got to much of them anyway... :p

Once again, Awesome job on that OC!! keep it up!

Those are some pretty sick clocks and times. Let us know how the benching goes on those other chips you've recieved. Are you going to put them under phase aswell?

@The Wizard: Thank you! 3.8GHz on air is quite good actually ;)

@MadMan007: That's a good suggestion buddy, BTW, I'm using a well-tweaked OS to bench; as my friend Gautam already said on XS, 10.063s for Spi1M @5020MHz is still easily one of the best clock for clock 1M times out there. Such a time is usually expected at about 5100MHz. I'd love to find a high-end tweak to save few more sec, but it seems me very very difficult to find a way to improve this time without a better RAM... which is obviously also very very difficult to find! :D

@[SC]Ceasar: Thx! This CPU is the property of Intel... It's a loan. Actually, we (Quent and I) hope to recieve another X6800 from Intel. Quent asked for a better pretested one. ;)

@inkfx: Thx! Of course, I'll choose one or two of those to make some cascade madnesses. BTW E6400 and E6600 performance is very FSB related and requires an excellent mobo which I don't have. The actual P5B-DLX and TForce P965 DLX I have are both limited at about 540FSB.

@Deanzo: Thank you! :)

Ah ok, it sounded to me as if you were expecting sub-10s times but didn't get them. If those times are good for the clockspeed then :D for you.

:eek: Completely unprecented, I believe the fastest sub 10 ever was at about 5090MHz. You'll top that easy. :D
