I'm running WinXP Pro on a Shuttle AK32L board with Tbird 1200 @ 1300. The AK32L is a KT266 (not KT266A) board and can use either 2 sticks of DDR *or* 2 sticks of PC133 but NOT both. Right now I have 384MB PC133 in it. Sandra mem scores just over 1000. I have to opportunity to change to 256MB PC2100 if I want. I know my Sandra mem scores would increase to 1600-1700. This is a gaming box playing games like Jedi Knight 2, Elite Force, Dungeon Siege, etc.
My question is ... which would provide better overall performance in WinXP? 256MB seems a little borderline when running some games like JK2 under WinXP with a lot of swapping during startup and exit of the game. 384MB reduces the swapping a lot but it's only PC133 SDRAM not faster DDR. So I guess the question is (1) more of slower SDRAM or (2) less of faster DDR ??
