Hello, I am trying to figure out device manager, there is one thing that it wont tell me, that is my MoBo type, I had to download a program called SANDRA, {I bet some of you have heard of it} in order to figure out what MoBo I had, but does it say in device manager or somewere else what type of MoBo I have? If so where? Thanks for reading.

Gunther

Unfortunatly this type of detailed information is not available in device manager. Sandra will work fine for this though, it also presents the information in an intuitive format (intuitive being a word that is not in Microsoft's vocabulary :) ) Go into System summary in Sandra and look under Mainboard.

I actualy did open it up and physicaly look inside, but the only thing that I found was the chipset it used. NVIDIA if I remember, I opened it like a week ago, and looked for like a half hour before I finaly gave up.

The program I mentioned earlier did finally tell me it was an NVIDIA nForce ultra 400.

Thanks for input though, I guess it wasn't somwere in device manager then, at least I didn't just overlook it. Although I do know what type I have now, just making sure it didn't say it somewere easy to find. I also checked the system setup when I restarted my comp, but nothing to be found there.

NVIDIA nForce ultra 400 is actually the chipset, not the actual make and model of the motherboard. NVidia creates the chipset, they do not actually manufacture motherboards for the consumer market.

What color is the board? How many pci slots? Does it have anything written on it physicly? Asus generaly writes "Asus" between 2 of the pci slots, and I think Abit writes "Abit" above the AGP slot, but I'm not sure about that one.

I don't think that those are the chipsets, because it sais under chipset is NVIDIA nForce ICP, but under model it sais NVIDIA nForce ultra 400. Though I did find it odd that NVIDIA would make a MoBo as the VIDIA part would mean graphics.

The color of it is blue, there is nothing writen on it that would indicate anything other than directions for the wires, IDE cable, ect. There are 5 PCI slots.

It also sais that under the manufacturer it is made by HOLCO. but as I pointed out the model is NVIDIA nForce ultra 400 if it is labled correctly in the program.

The nForce2 Ultra 400 is indeed a chipset, I own an Asus board that uses that chipset.

How about CPU-Z? Did you try that yet?

I don't think I know what cpu-z is, I checked sandra to see if that was what you ment, but I didn't see anything with that name there. What is it exactly?
Oh and now that I look closer at the model thingy, it has a number before it as well, something of a serial number I suspect, it is: AN35S00L

Does that mean anything to anybody?

it's a small program that lets you see certain stats about your computer. google for it.

Found it, and installed it, and under mainboard, that fabled question "what kind do I have".....remains unanswered.... the program left that part blank. LoL, did I not do something, surely I skipped something.

No, sometimes that just happens. I guess your board is unsupported? Ohh, and I gave you the link in my first post. :)

So... what does Sandra say when you open up the system summary and mainboard information modules.

Oh sorry, I must not have seen it before, err...whoops, anyways in sandra when I open up the mainboard file sais the following:

That was....longer than I had intended...oh well, that is everything CTRL+C CTRL+v'd

coolness so I take it that means min is a AN35/N Ultra correct? yeap that looks just like mine, the top one anyways, mine doesn't have integrated graphics like the second one. Thankyou so much for your help, it is much appreciated. =}

EDIT: But if you don't mind my asking how did you figure out what type mine was?
