this is for a friend.
he had an original Athalon cpu 1.3ghz and never got around to running it in a system with the mobo. so he tried the other week and didnt boot. with a new case with rosewill psu and a new 5200gpu. all fans spin lights go on just no video.
after swapping in a new vid card that was known to work we ruled out video. he went online found that other people with his mobo were reporting shorting outs and bad boots yada yada.
so he gets a new motherboard from the egg and tried to boot it up today. no go. light on mobo is on all fans spin cpu makes noises but it just doesnt show anything on video.
he thinks it might be a bad cpu since its kinda old. is ther anyway you can test to see if its the cpu without a working system to swap it into.?
