I just got ghost 10 today, and copyed two separate small hardrives onto two different partitions on one large drive, i followed the steps for formatting and partitioning from the windows section. My problem now is, i go to boot up, it comes to the blue screen, says welcome that goes away, and then just has the windows xp logo, and the mouse pointer still works. I really want to get off of those old drives i have asap, they still work even with xpsp2 installed, but now the new drive has the problems i listed above. I hadn't modified the previous os drives boot ini like i saw in another thread about ghost, but can't find that anymore, and i'm not sure if that is my problem, i just downloaded the software form symantec, for now i will run the old crap, but i really want to get off of those old drives.

Ok, I use Acronis too. Unfortunately, "choosing explore image" eventually gives me a bsod. Also "restore image" goes all the way through the end, then gives me a bsod.

I've disabled dep, installed the amd driver...

Any ideas? I wub my acronis!!

I get such mixed reviews on Acronis and Norton Ghost...Controversy w/which one is better, controversy over "hot" imaging for that matter too.

I saw Norton and Acronis newest versions...unsure which one is better...Or if either is just the same pretty much

Well, the old Acronis (version 8.something) seems to at least backup properly. I can clone a 74GB raptor (35GB used) to a 250GB hitachi 7k250 in under 10 minutes again. Version 9.something took over 45 minutes!! I've yet to muster up the balls for an "explore" image tho, hehe.

How long does ghost take for somethin' like that?

Why do you explore an image????

Well, I can create an image or single file from acronis. Say for backup purposes. Then if I decide I need a file that was backed up on x date, I can simply right click, mount image, and explore it. Very helpful for when I delete my program's configs...foobar, media player classic, firefox, etc.
