hi .

i have a ASUS p5ld2 motherboard with a single SATA 200GB Samsung hard drive.

i want to add an additional 200 gig SATA hard drive (or two additionals!) and configure my system to run in a RAID 0 configuration, using the ASUS P5LD2 boards SATA RAID capabilities.

my question is this:

1. do i need to buy an identical *samsung* drive, or will any 200gig SATA drive do?

2. after installing the new drive ... will i have to build the array and RE-install my entire system or is there a method of building the array while maintaining my current system and OS setup?

thanks for any input.

jbh.

Better get an identical drive.

And yes, you have to completly re-install everything.
Or you have to fiddle around with Ghost to make a backup on a seperate drive (not partition ofcourse) and then create the RAID array, and restore the disk dump.
