Asus Maximus Formula, even though it doesn't do SLi the x38 chipset is far superior to the 680i chipset in terms of overclocking. Even though it doesn't do SLi, there are ways around it; you will see much more of a gain now since both lanes are 16x

I'd say be patient and see how the new 780i boards go over. The Striker's history is not what I would call pleasant. I think what would really determine the selection would be DDR3 needs/wants and your graphics card budget. What do you plan on doing with the setup, and what are the rest of the components?
