Well I went and done it.
After some deliberation, a "too good of deal to pass up" deal, came upon a brand new RIIE. Hopefully it'll get here by the end of this week,
I haven't picked up my cpu yet. Probably a 920 from Fry's. I've already got a batch# from them. It's one of the newer ones.
My ram is Crucial Valueram for starters. They have the D9JNM ic's. But for 90 bux for 6gig isn't bad. We'll see how they do.
I've got a Swiftech w/b coming for cooling.

So before it gets here I was hoping to get some input on some of the bios settings. I know I can go to XS but we have top notch quality oc'rs here with RIIE's.

Well I fit one of the criteria.. I have the Rampage II Extreme .. alas the top notch quality OC'er bit may be a while yet..

The Mobo is pretty good though .. full of built in OC settings for both CPU and RAM and some custom ROG settings built in for fun . Give me a shout if you need some pictures and I'll try and take some for you .

I should of told you that I was able to get around 2000Mhz with 8-8-8-21 @1.86V on a P45 chip set. And it was easy. I'm sure you can get 1600 with 7-7-7 timings with 1.65V or less! cant wait to see what you get.

Well I got some real shEEty news in my email from Dell..
My ordered RIIE isn't going to get here at 9/11...
Noooo.
ETof Delivery..... 9/25 !!!! WTF!!:temper:
Edit::cry::cry::cry:

Is a 300dollar(shipped) RIIE worth waiting for?

You will just love the board, it is one of the most powerfull and forging X58 boards on the market. I would suggest you set your 920 at 21 x 190 (HT enabled) with 1.35 vcore, 1.64 VDIMM or wherever the default is, leave all the rest of the voltages on auto and I bet you you will be stable at 4Ghz.

Unlike some boards auto on this board is more than just a shot in the dark, you can safely set it on auto without having a Vtt at 1.5 that is somewhat hight for starters.

The board is very tolerant to "unstable" OC profiles and will almost always boot irrespective of your settings (within limits off course, 230 x 21 will need more than 1.35v ;))

It also boots nice and fast unlike some X58 boards that seem to take forevere to get to Win load screen.

Have fun and good luck :)

Do you want to go Xtreme cooling and how much do you expect to push the CPU...if you want a good solid 4.25 Ghz on cenventional cooling then the Rampage Gene, EVGA LE, Foxconn Bloodrage or DFI JR will certainly give you that, at a lot less $. You could get a P55, board and 860 would cost you about the same. P55 looks nice but the X58 is proven with solid boards, bios and lots of OC data :)...choices, choices:screwy:

Gotta a heck of a deal on this board.. For 50 bux from the Gene I'll have the Extreme.
Note, I bought the board for 300shipped, new.
I wouldn't call my cooling extreme but it's a little better than just water and it depends on the cpu on high it'll clock too. It's a hit and miss sometimes.

No kidding on the "choices, choices".
It won't kill me to wait,,,I guess.

OT...buying anything from Dell makes me very nervous, especially if they start to send you updates on the shipping. Hope you get your board soon :)

Ok, I'm ready to rumble... Minus the one 4870 atm.

How about those "cpu" setttings? Same as the 775's? Disable everything?

This might help...

Ran some 3dmark benchs at these settings..
Results are in the "3dmark Team" section.
Still a little toastie here in Az.
Got a little too warm this morning so I'll do some more later.

It seems I can do up to 218 blck with a 19 multiplier and ram settings on auto.
How do you determine where the weak link is?

Very nice! Also tossed my Asus P6T Deluxe and got myself RIIE. I had installed it but not boot it yet since I'm waiting for HD5870x2 video card to be in the market..
