Hey OCers,

question about ram. which is better for gaming, ram with tighter timings or higher clock?

Ive been looking at this ram with lower timings:

and trying to decide between that and one of these:

Which do you think will provide better gaming performance? (if you have any other gaming ram suggestions let me know). Will i be able to overclock any of these more than the others? like would overclocking the g skill ram make up for its lower clock?

Finally, I was reading somewhere that amd processors will perform better with ram that has tighter timings, whereas with intel, the speed is more important. any truth to this?

Thanks alot\

As Bobnova stated you won't notice a difference between the 2 1600 kits and 1600 seems to be the DDR3 sweet spot. I run Gskill 1600 9-9-9-24 in my daily and I'll tell you out side of benchmarks I can't tell one bit of difference between them and my 2000 8-8-8-24 kit.

For gaming, the sweet spot is 1600, like jaymz9350 said and as for latencies, CL9-8.

That, for gaming and general purposes. Not benching/hwbotting.

Don't forget about G.SKILL Sniper serious 4Gx2 DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24-2T "1.5v(less heat)", which is compatible with AMD platform, thank you
