i am running XP SP1 if you tell me how to check i will tell you

You can find out which version of the 4in1's you're running by locating the following Registry Key...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SOFTWARE | Via4in1Driver
Look for the string value of 4in1Version in the RH pane.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SOFTWARE | Via4in1Driver

As soon as I get here HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SOFTWARE there is no Via4in1Driver listed.

XP SP1 does NOT come with ANY 4-in-1 drivers...I'm pretty sure they're only installed by Via's setup program.
