Hey guys,

I am an idiot on OC, that's why I am coming here to help.
I need a step by step guide for overclocking my 5960X.

My rig setup:
5960X with MSI X99S Gaming 9 ACK
Corsair H100i liquid cooling
16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 2666MHZ CL15
ASUS GTX780 DirectCUII OC
CM HAF X

My current temp always run between 30 - 50 from idiling to video rendering

I am aiming to overclock to 4-4.2.
Please help me...

Get Intel XTU.
Raise CPU multiplier one in the BIOS. Test with XTU.
If it passes, go up one more. If it fails, raise the vCore. Test again.

Watch your core temp, you'll run out of cooling before you run out of safe voltage

How much to raise for multiplier and vcore?

What do u mean by "you'll run out of cooling before you run out of safe voltage?"
What will be the normal temp?

Just set the multiplier to 40 and run at 4 Ghz. Download Intel Extreme Tuning utility and run at least an hour on cpu stress test. Make sure under preferences (lower right hand corner to expand) that you check all 8 cores and you vcan monitor individual cores. I have really good custom cooling and I stay at 4.4Ghz and no core exceeds 71C. 90c is too hot. I would avoid exceeding 80C on any core.
