Hello guys,

I plan to build a workstation especially for 3d modelling. It's more active modelling instead of rendering. I want to include liquid cooling but that's the next step. At first I want to clarify what components I will use. Unfortunately I never build my own workstation before, so I hope that you guys can help me with this :)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900x
GPU: Asus Nvidia RTX 2070 ROG STRIX
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2x16GB)
Motherboard: ASUS x570 ROG STRIX
SSD: Samsung 860 Evo
Power Supply: Corsair RM650x
Case: I am uncertain about the case at this moment.

Is this motherboard a good choice? Or is there something else you can suggest to improve?

I appreciate your help.

Best

What applications do you use?

Do your programs want many cores or fast single threaded performance.

Judging from your list I assume multi threaded work?

Thanks for your response.

The most important demanding application is 3DS MAX for working on 3d models.

According to google outside of rendering, 3ds max only uses one core. So I would recommend waiting until the end of the month to see how the new intel chips perform than likely switching to Intel from AMD.

For 3d modeling I use two rigs, one is A workflow rig and the others are for rendering.
In my workflow rig (blender) I have A 9600K and A gtx1060.
