After a week of spending 8-12 hours a day reading forums and reviews and got the Acer AS5920 this morning. Basic Specs:
Intel C2D Centrino 1.5 ghz
8600M GT 256
HD-DVD
160GB 5400 HD
2GB RAM
WXGA 1280x800
$1150 @ BB
Couldn't pass it up for that price. I was close to getting the Asus G1S, but the screen was to big of a turn off. Very grainy on white backgrounds so browsing and using word could be rough plus it seemed to be really bad with shadows even when looking directly at it.
I figure once intel puts out 2.6 and 2.8 chips it will be pretty easy to find a 2.0 or 2.2 upgrade. With the saved cash, got that nice Swiss backpack and Planet Earth HD-DVD. And going to order 4gb of corsair tonight for it.
Pictures, performance and OC results to shortly. Going to try and pull off the bloatware before I start loading some games.
