problem with DVD rom

problem with DVD rom


ok my problem is i run windvd 4 and i have a 8x DVD i click to open windvd and it starts then the whole comp freezes what can i do to fix it

my setup is as follows

Promise ATA100TX2 controller card
Device0 8x DVD rom dma 2

is is it cause its on the controller card or what

I do not believe that card supports ATAPI devices. Connect it to the primary or secondary mobo channel.

The card supports ATAPI but there are some optical drives that don't get along well with Promise cards. I would suggest running your optical drives off the motherboard IDE headers and use the Promise card for your HDs and or Zip.
