does anybody know how to turn them off?

im not using my keyboard drivers - because they are rubbish. instead im using girder to control my extra keyboard keys (stop, pause, favourites ect).
which works great except that without the proper drivers, pressing the stop button opens up the calculator, and pressing the favourites button mutes the sound!!!!!

can anybody help?

The Windows+Hotkeys can be disabled in TweakUI | "Explorer" section | Uncheck "Enable Windows+X hotkeys". You can also disable it manually in the Registry (Start | Run | Type regedit and click OK) by navigating to the following Key...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER | Software | Microsoft | Windows | CurrentVersion | Policies | Explorer

Right click in the RH pane and select New | Binary value. Name the value NoWinKeys. Double click the new value and set it to 01 00 00 00. Log off/Logon or reboot.

You can find TweakUI for XP at the following MS site...

Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP ;)
