does linux handel 2 cpus well

The Windows NT Resource Kit has a utility to upgrade the kernel from single to dual cpu. I've heard mixed reviews about it's effectiveness. I've always just reinstalled the OS. By the way, that card in the second slot is probably a terminator card and the system may not work if you leave it out and don't put a processor in it.
