A buddy of mine told me that there is software that changes 9500 pro to 9700 pro or something now, so you don't have to do that transister resoldering thing

apperently it only works with OEM cards though

Well, uve got a very slim chance of getting a 9500 that is moddable at all now to anything but a 9500 Pro

All the cards being made now are using the 9500 Pro PCB...so they dont have the 256bit bus that the 9700 has. The hack only enables the 4 pipelines disabled on the 9500 non-Pro. So u end up with 8 pipelines and a 128bit bus...in other words, a 9500 Pro

the 9500PRO cannot be hacked into anything...just overclocked
the 9500 can be modded into either a 9700 or a 9500PRO depending on PCB...if it is red with 2 pair of memory chips cattycorner then it is 9700 modable...if it is black or different than that...it can be modded into a 9500PRO
the 9700 can EASILY be overclocked to 9700PRO numbers...but the 9700PRO, with its faster RAM can easily destroy all of these cards

my radeon was able to be modded from a 9500 to a 9700...and the only thing I can't get to 9700PRO spec is the memory...but with some ramsinks, i believe I can do it

good luck with your video card buying
