HD Gurus needed: How do I get the data...

off of a HD that has been removed from a computer? We just got a new boss and he wants to bring his HD that was removed from an older computer and pull data from it.

He does not have access to the old computer.

Tell me how to get the data off of it.

Can I set it up as a slave HD an pull the data that way? This HD has Win98 and everything he had on it.

I am concerned that the new motherboard would not know how to read it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yep just plug it in as a slave drive. You are lucky it is win98 and not Win2k or XP with NTFS then it could be a little harder.

I think what you mean is that since it has windows 98 on it, The mobo will try to load from there, It wont because it is in slave,it will Boot from Master.

set it up as slave, open up my computer, Then go thru the HD and Get what you want and switch it over.
