RAID w/ different HDD's

I plan on running a RAID 0+1 or maybe RAID 5 with 4 disks. I'm gonna be using a rocketRAID 404 card, and I have 2 80gb 8mb maxtor drives. Anyone forsee any problems of using 120, 100, or 80gb 8mb drives (other than loosing storage space) from WD?

The reason I say 120 and 100 is because I might be able to get an awesome deal on em which would be cheaper than buying an 80gb. (I know I'll loose the 40 or 20 on each drive).

So the difference will most likely only be brand (maxtor and WD), they'll have same cache for sure, and may be bigger.

Yes it will work, is it ideal, no. Like you said, the array will see each drive as whatever the size of the SMALLEST drive is and it will run at the speed of the SLOWEST drive.
