So I got two WD Raptors to replace the 60GXP's that just died on me (again), but considering the case they are going in, they will have to be installed one of top of another. Seeing how they are OMG FAST will the combined heat output of these two drives placed so close together cause any problems?

nope.. got mine on top of each other with bay coolers runnin.
no problems..... no there not the best outa WD.....
but i think with some revisions and firmware upgrades they should increase the low write speeds.... most boost to performance is the 5.5ms access times....

Interestingly, storagereview.com has tested both drives' heat output and while the Raptor isn't one of the coolest, it's still cooler than the hotheaded 60GXP!

They list the 60GXP at 21.8 deg above ambient and the Raptor at 20.8. :)

Well I am running 2 Raptors but I have a fan in front of them overall they stay very cool, I dont think it would be a problem.
