My dad has a WIn ME machine he's really comfortable with.

He wants to try XP.

He has a new 40 gig hard drive he's installing and wants to load XP on that.

He doesn't want to lose his current install of Win ME...

Will putting XP on the new drive allow him to dual boot into Win ME and XP, or will it trash his system?

Thanks

All you need to do add the second hdd to the PC as a slave drive, partition and format. When XP sees the ME partition tell it to install new and select the drive area that you want it to install to. Xp will take care of the dual boot but beware that if you decide to get rid of either OS you will need to 1. edit the boot.ini before deleteing or reinstall the one that you plan on keeping and while you do that you can delete the partition of the OS that you dont want but be sure to allow at least 5-10 gb for your XP install for programs and such. Save out the rest of the 40gb for safe storage to move your apps and stuff that you dont want to lose.
