Abit NF7-S + AMD 1700 - System not working >.<

Well, i've hooked up the HSF + CPU + Mobo up in my Xaser 3, i purchased the TT 480 Watt like i had mentioned earlier, i came back from my vacations to find out that the Computer isn't booting. The mobo bulb isn't even lighting up, as a result i know that the Mobo isn't gettin power, at all.

I figured the Mobo could be dead, so i tried one of my Old PSU's, it powere dup the Mobo and the system booted, as a result i deduced the PSU was faulty. I RMA'd the TT and got a temporary Chieftec 360W replacement, to my surprise, this doesn't boot up the sytem either.

I hooked the Chieftec to my older P4 rig, and it's working fine, hence i deduced the PSu isn't faulty, but like i mentioned earlier, the Older PSu that i have lying around on my P3 450 is working fine on the Abit, so if the PSu isn't dead nor the Mother board, then what's the problem?

I've decided to take the Chieftec over to a friend's place (DVS mAeStRo) who has the exact same rig excluding the VGA, just to see what exactly the problem is. But until then, do any of you have any idea's?

Are you hooking up the 12v aux input?

Does the old psu have a 12v aux?

If the answers are yes and no, maybe the 12v aux input is screwy.

Yes, i am hooking up the 12v Aux input, and yes, the old PSu also has it . . all 3 PSu's have it, and yet, the 2 new one's don't work.

Think there could be a problem with the Rails? +5V/+12V?

strip the system down to bare essentials. something is failing on you. try a different board.

How can something fail when i, keeping everything constant, attached another PSU ALONG with the AUX Cable, and it worked . .

I'm really concerned about the V Rail readings, sum1 on some other bords suggested they could be either too high or to low. Guess the only way i can find out is when i go to my friend's house and try it out.

So the old PSU works 100% of the time, it didn't just boot once and you considered it working?

That's an odd case. Maybe that motherboard is a bit faulty and you should RMA it if the PSU is working fine in other systems.

Hmm, i figured as much myself. Well, it doesn't boot AT ALL (Multiple times) on my AMD rig. Works on my P4 . .

But then out of the 3 PSu's the oldest one Works on the Rig . . .

Guess i oughto RMA it then ..

Can't be the PSU's . .

I'll still tyr it on my friend's rig though, that oughto gimmie a clear insight

Guys, i tried running the system out of the casing and found out the Mobo works . . hence i rebuilt the system from scratch, and voila . .

I think there was a problem with my Front Firewire + USB connections . .

I did everything step by step and it's workin in A1 Condition . . can't believe i made such a n00bie mistake

Hmm, i don't have a use for the Firewire ports as yet, but yes, i do have the same casing too. Thanks for bringing this to my attention
