I am seeing $30-35 CD-RW drives online now. I remember how much they cost about 4 years ago.

I worry that these cheap CD-RW drives won’t work well. Does anybody have any opinion or experiences with these drives?

When my Mom's old CDRW drive crapped out I bought here a Lite-on 48x for ~$35 from newegg. It works as expected. In fact I rather like Lite-on DVD-ROMs too (unlocked for ripping).

Four years is a LONG time in the computer world. Even DVDR prices are down to ~$120 these days :)

yeah if you want a cheap brand lite-on is the best but i personally love my 52x sexy plexy!
