p4 14Ghz socket 423

How bad are these socket 423 cpus? are they really that bad?
I can have a free 1.4 Ghz one off my friend as he doesnt want it. I was thinking of building a LAN party game server to run quake3 and counter strike. Would i be better of finding a p3? what speeds shold i be looking for?

they are pretty bad, i have a 478 williamette, and i do remember correctly, a 1.4ghz p4 is as fast a p3 1ghz...

im beating you both lol. I still have the very first Willemate 1.3GHZ on the WMT-LX mother board. But the thing is I can still run anything thats dished out at it. Didnt run anything i couldnt run. Going to start building my new pc in June.

As a LAN server, it should be ok. The Tualatin Celerons at the same speed could beat the Willamettes though. But, for free I'd take it too.
