Quake III Arena Online Servers

I have the Quake III Arena game, and I am interested on playing it online. I have access to irnternet on my work via a Proxy Server (exactly ISA Server) I wonder what I have to do to play online, I mean what ports do I have to open on ISA Server, and what patch I need of the game. So I want everything is needed to play this game online.

1. get the 1.32 official id point release for quake3

2. then and download one of the many mods q3 has
i'd suggest playing threewave ctf,
its so fun, esp the capturestrike mode
(u would need to dl threewave 1.6full, then update it to 1.7, and
get the map packs, where u upzip into the baseq3 folder)
