Lappin a Chip???

I just read an OLD post on another board that back when amd was runnin around 400 or so, people were lappin the chip itself.

Would that work for a T bird....I don't think it would, that lil chip seems to small for that, but I don't know.
 
I would reconmend against it, ive never heard of any gains out of it and you have the chance of not lapping the chip evenly or lapping it to much
 
DO NOT LAPP AMD DIE'S! there way to thin as it is and the gains are not worth the risk [like the above post said] even with Intel die's, even if you do not damage the CPU you will not see much in the way of improvements.
 
I have done it with a couple of Birds. Lost about 2C in temps. It's not for the faint at heart or those who can't afford to loose a chip.
