old school question.

hey guys quick question. I have a really old amd athlon SLOT A 800mhz pc runnin right now. i was wondering if i could put in a 9800pro on it? currently it has and came with a tnt2. anyone have a clue?? also, if i try putting in the 9800pro and it doesnt work, will it hurt the card??

as long as you have an agp slot it will work, but the cpu will be a HUGE bottle neck.

and make sure the agp slot is 4x not 2x.

im willing to wager with a 800mhz tbird its 4x though

It shouldnt hurt the card if it doesnt work. It really depends how old the board is. Older AGP slots used 3.3v and newer ones use 1.5v.

What is the board model?

err, how do i know if a psu died?? when i turn it on the fan spins and the led for it comes on, but then it stops, and when i turn it off the power sound goes off.
