how do you check your hard drive for bad sectors?

Right click the drive you would like to check.

Select properties|Tools|Error Checking (Reboot upon selecting your choice.)

Personally, I use the particular diagnostic software for the drive I am testing. I usually find them much more specific to each drive.

My personal expericence is any sector symantec products seems to make thier way onto become a bad sector...

Also if you do a full format, not quick it will also do a simple check for you...
however this option is not exactly the best option you always have...
But a new drive can ship with bad sectors and should have a proper format for teh 1st use even though it can take ages with the large drives on the market now
