Network File Server + Firewall?

I like Smoothwall and its massive customization capability, but I don't know of any way that you can get it to act as a local network file server. So what would be my options for a firewall/dhcp/local file server? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

yea, bad idea to have a firewall doing anything other than,.....firewalling.
